Hi. My name is Marc Spagnuolo and here’s a picture of me and my beautiful partner in crime, Nicole. She’s 27 weeks pregnant and apparently I have too much time on my hands (enjoying it while I can). I currently run a woodworking website at TheWoodWhisperer.com. Woodworking is my passion and I pretty much eat, sleep, and drink it. Making videos, writing articles, building projects, and constantly coming up with new ideas keeps me busy pretty much all the time. Yet somehow, I still find time to indulge my inner geek. Frankly, I think its important for people to have multiple passions in life. Without it, we run the risk of becoming awfully one-dimensional.
When I first started my woodworking business around 2004, I took my passion for woodworking and shoehorned it into something I called a “business”. Well, at least according to the state of Arizona it was a business. According to my bank account, however, I was someone who couldn’t even maintain the $2000 balance required to avoid monthly fees! The drain on my finances coupled with the fact that I was rarely doing projects that I found interesting or compelling, eventually led to woodworking becoming just another job. That is, until I came up with the idea for The Wood Whisperer. So now I am INCREDIBLY lucky to spend my days building projects I love, filming everything with a video camera, and then pissing around on the computer turning those clips into fun and educational videos for my fellow woodworkers to enjoy. For me, several of my passions and things I find enjoyable are all wrapped into what I call my job. And thankfully, my bank account is much more “business-like” as well.
The reason I am telling you all this is to help set the stage for what this personal blog will be. Essentially, I have topics (other than woodworking) that I enjoy talking about. I have lots of hobbies and I dabble in a lot of different things, just for fun. Although I have never been much of a writer, I find expressing my thoughts in words to be incredibly therapeutic. With the upcoming changes in my life (baby on the way), I think I will be coming here to assault you with my butchering of the English language more and more often.
Warning! If you know me from The Wood Whisperer, you might be surprised at what you read here. I rarely, if ever, express opinions on anything except woodworking on TheWoodWhisperer.com. As time went on, what started as a blog turned into a full-fledged business. I value that business and I have the highest respect for my viewers and readers. And that’s exactly why I do NOT allow talk of politics or religion on my site or in my forums. Nothing will separate a group of online “friends” faster than Osama, Obama and God. But on this personal blog, I reserve the right to let my hair down a bit. Expect to hear about my home life, comic books, movies, my dogs, video games, and the fetus growing in my wife’s belly. And while I don’t plan on being vulgar for vulgarity’s sake, you might see some foul language. Hey, I was raised in Jersey! Fuhgettaboutit!
So thanks for stopping by and I hope I don’t regret this.
